Former Lebanese prime minister Saad Hariri on Monday congratulated Egypt's new president Dr Mohammed Morsi in a telephone call. The March 14 bloc leader also sent a message to the former Muslim Brotherhood leader, saying: "We were pleased in Lebanon by your election as President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, as a culmination of the struggles of a people who paid great sacrifices for their country and the Arab nation. We were also pleased to see Egypt accomplish this democratic shift, which will, God willing, be a luminous step in the history of Egypt and all Arabs." "We, in Lebanon, feel the good breezes that came along with the winds of Arab spring, and with the uprising of the Egyptian youth in particular, despite the horrors that accompanied these winds, and we find in your election, a good start for a noble path, that we hope will find a similar success in the neighbouring countries that are following the footsteps of the great Egyptian people." "May God help you, Mr President, and guide your path to face this stage so that Egypt remains a source of power and solidarity for the Arabs," it finished.
