A source from the Supreme Security Committee (SSC) in Benghazi said that clashes broke out in Torghae camp for displaced people in the Garyounis neighbourhood of Benghazi city. Mohamed Mokhtar from the SSC told Arabstoday that clashes broke out between people from Torghae and some residents of \"7000 district\" in Garyounis district. Mokhtar said that the clashes broke out because residents of the 7000 district suspected that some youths from the camp of the displaced were involved in car thefts. A security source from the ministry of defence said security forces had surrounded the camp and confirmed that the confrontation did not cause any injuries. The sounds of bullets and hand grenades created panic in the camp as residents fled to escape the source of the clashes. Torghae is home to approximately 30,000 people who left their city which is 40 kilometres east of the Libyan capital Tripoli, because of its support for Muammar Gaddafi’s regime. In the middle of August last year, life had stopped in the city before the rebels headed to the Libyan capital Tripoli. Misrata rebels went to Torghae to take revenge on its people who were accused of belonging to Gaddafi\'s brigades which participated in the siege and shelling of Misrata for three months.
