Minsk - RT
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukahsenko has rejected the clemency pleas of two men sentenced to death for a subway bombing in the country’s capital Minsk. The bombing, which happened last year on April 11, took the lives of 15 people. Dmitry Konovalov and Vladislav Kovalev, both 25, were convicted by a court in November, but their defense lawyers said the ruling was based on trivial and inconclusive evidence. Belarus is the sole European country that still uses the death penalty.
