Five Palestinians, including a woman and a child, were injured in Israeli airstrikes on southern Gaza overnight Sunday, medics said. Emergency services spokesman Adham Abu Salmiya said Israeli warplanes fired missiles at a blacksmith\'s workship in Rafah. The victims were taken to the Abu Yousif al-Najjar Hospital in Rafah. Earlier Sunday evening, Israel bombed a military site south of Gaza City used by the al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas. That attack caused no injuries, Abu Salmita said. The Israeli military said it hit \"a weapon manufacturing facility in the southern Gaza Strip and a terror activity site in the central Gaza Strip.\" The attacks were in response to rocket fire from the Gaza Strip, the army said in a statement. On Sunday, a Palestinian man was injured by Israeli tank fire near the borders of the Gaza Strip, medics said. The man was wounded east of Deir al-Balah and transferred to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, medics told Ma\'an. Witnesses said 10 Israeli military vehicles entered around 300 meters into the Gaza Strip earlier Sunday, and opened fire without prior warning. An Israeli army spokeswoman said eight mortars were fired at soldiers \"during routine activity adjacent to the security fence ... in response forces fired towards suspicious areas.\" The Jihad Jibril brigades of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command claimed responsibility for firing five mortar shells at Israeli forces in the area.
