New Zealand troops in Afghanistan could be withdrawn earlier than the planned 2014 deadline, reports said Wednesday, according to DPA. Radio New Zealand reported the government was considering bringing its 140 soldiers home early if NATO agrees. The troops are serving with a reconstruction team in Bamyan province. Foreign Minister Murray McCully told Radio New Zealand that Bamyan is likely to be one of the first provinces where transition to local forces is completed. \"Quite how quickly that will happen is something that I\'ll get a closer fix on over the next few days here in Brussels,\" he said.
