Hundreds of people demonstrated outside the Chinese Embassy in London on the anniversary of the Chinese invasion of Tibet calling for the region's independence. Protesters marched through London chanting against what they described as the escalating violence and repression of China towards Tibetans. British police have closed some main streets including Regent Street which intersects with Oxford Street. Protesters were mostly Tibetan immigrants although some British activists participated as well.
