Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has received Claire Perry, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Transport, in the presence of Paul Fox, British Consul General to Dubai.

During the meeting attended by several CEOs of RTA and members of the delegation accompanying the British minister, the two parties discussed means of boosting co-operation and sharing expertise between RTA and its counterpart in the UK. They also reviewed a variety of public transport projects and systems the RTA intends to undertake in the future.

At the start of the meeting, Al Tayer welcomed the British minister and hailed the partnership and co-operation relationships between RTA and British entities operating in the field of roads and transportation.

Al Tayer briefed the British delegation on the key projects the RTA is considering implementing in the future in order to upgrade the infrastructure of roads and transit systems, including the construction and operation of rail projects costing billions of dirhams. Examples of these projects include Route 2020 for the extension of the Red Line of the Dubai Metro to the Expo 2020 site, extension of the Green Line of the Dubai Metro, Phase II of the Dubai Tram, and several other projects offering great opportunities for businesses to bid for projects released by the RTA.

The British State Minister for Transport Affairs expressed her pleasure over the involvement of British entities and companies in the construction of RTA’s projects, hoping for more co-operation and the exchange of expertise in the interest of both parties.
