Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is due to meet his Japanese counterpart Koichiro Gemba here Saturday to discuss cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region, a peace treaty and Cooperation in the Far East. Russian President Vladimir Putin is then set to meet Japan's Foreign Minister, Gemba, according to Russian news agency (Itar-Tass). The Russian foreign ministry stressed the importance of Japanese relation with Russia. "The Japanese trend has been firmly established among the priorities of Russia’s foreign policy," Russian Foreign Ministry said. Japan is one of the world’s ten leading economic partners of Russia. In 2011, a trade turn over between the two countries amounted to $30 billion while the total volume of accumulated Japanese investment in Russia surpassed $10 billion .
