Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovic Putin will pay a three-day state visit to China from June 5 as guest of Chinese President Hu Jintao, state-run Xinhua News Agency reported Tuesday. Putin will also attend the 12th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Beijing scheduled for June 6-7, the Foreign Ministry made the announcement in a press release, according to the report. Founded in Shanghai in 2001, SCO comprises six member countries -- China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. China has also invited Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to the upcoming SCO summit as an observer.
