Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Wednesday described the assassination of the Russian envoy to Turkey two days ago as unprecedented act in relations between the two countries.

In statements carried by the Russian Sputnik news agency, he added that Presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan have shown political will not to allow this provocative incident to affect the positive approach in relations between the two countries.

He described however the incident as catastrophic and a provocative act of terrorism.
