South Korea's military chief called for vigilance against North Korea's possible provocations after parliament voted to impeach President Park Geun-hye a day earlier, Yonhap quoted officials as saying Sunday.

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) Chairman Gen. Lee Sun-jin ordered the military to raise their alertness against the enemy and focus on defending the nation firmly. 

He made the remark during his visit to a general post in the heavily fortified front-line mid and eastern regions facing North Korea.
