A malfunction in Israel's siren system on Monday caused a false alarm to ring out in areas of northern and southern Israel, the Israeli news site Ynet reported. Thousands of panicked Israelis called emergency services. A representative of Eshkol reigional council said communities were informed it was a false alarm seconds after the sirens sounded, Ynet said.
