President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a US Congress delegation under South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham in the presence of Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and the US Ambassador to Egypt Stephen Beecroft.
During the meeting, Sisi welcomed the US delegation and voiced appreciation to the strategic ties binding Egypt and the US, according to Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef.
Egypt also appreciates the aid provided by US, which contributed to attaining joint interests for the two countries, Sisi said.
Sisi, meanwhile, affirmed Egypt's commitment to its strategic partnership with the US and its keenness on boosting bilateral ties in the various spheres.
The US delegation, for their part, underlined the importance of the Egyptian-US strategic ties, adding that Egypt is considered a main pillar for security and stability in the Middle East, said the spokesman.
Egypt is an important partner for the US in the region, added the spokesman.
Members of the delegation in this respect hailed Egypt's role and its political leadership in combating terrorism.
They also hailed the wise Egyptian political leadership in pushing forward economic and social development in Egypt.
President Sisi, meanwhile, stressed the importance of adopting a comprehensive strategy to uproot terrorism, adding that the difficult economic conditions provide a fertile ground for the growth and spread of violence and terrorism.
It is important to confront all terrorist groups, without focusing on a certain organization, he added.
Sisi further said that Egypt is keen on entrenching principles of human rights, adding that it is important to attain balance between national security and stability in Egypt and between rights and freedoms.
