Some 658 migrants have been rescued following three interventions on the Mediterranean Sea stretching between Italy and North Africa, the Italian coastguard said.

    The migrants were plucked from two dinghies and a larger vessel, the coastguard said in a statement. A Spanish Navy boat part of the European Union's Eunavfor Med Sophia mission helped with the rescues, the (dpa) reported. No casualties or missing migrants were reported.
