Leonid Tibilov has won the run-off for South Ossetia’s presidential elections, which took place on Sunday, RIA Novosti reports. With 95 per cent of votes counted the former head of South Ossetia’s KGB has about 54 per cent of the vote. His opponent, ombudsman David Sanakoyev, has admitted defeat and congratulated the winner. “We won. I express acknowledgement and gratitude to all my supporters. Now we will all have to build a new successful rule-of-law state,” Tibilov said. The Central Election Commission head, Bella Pliyeva, has congratulated Tibilov and said the official results are expected on Monday.
