Syria’s state-run news agency SANA is reporting that gunmen have killed three soldiers and captured others at a checkpoint in the country’s north. The attack happened in the Jabal al-Zawiyah region of Idlib province, which borders Turkey, the agency said on Monday. The current wave of violence in Syria is concentrated on Idlib and the restive central province of Homs. Anti-government activists say Syrian troops shelled neighborhoods in the city of Homs on Monday.
