Ukraine started evacuating its citizens from Syria due to the deteriorating security situation in the country, a Foreign Ministry official said here Thursday. Ukraine Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Dykusarov told a media briefing two planes left Ukraine early Thursday to bring home at least 62 nationals, mostly women and children. Dykusarov also urged all Ukrainian citizens still in Syria to return home or leave the country. The official said that, despite the escalating civil war, Ukraine\'s diplomats would stay in Damascus as long as Ukrainian citizens were there.
