Beijing - QNA
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Thursday warned of the prospect of extended civil conflict in Syria and called for the international community to work on a common solution. "We face the grim possibility of long-term civil war destroying Syria's rich tapestry of interwoven communities," Ban said in a message delivered to a meeting in Iran of representatives from 30 countries discussing the Syrian crisis. Ban called for a Syrian-led transition process - from the current government of President Bahar al-Assad - to be "based on dialogue and compromise." "All of us have a responsibility to the people of Syria," Ban said.
