Unknown military jets have launched deadly airstrikes in Gedo region, southwestern Somalia, killing several people, Shabelle radio reported.

Mohamud Mukhtar, an elder has confirmed the aerial bombardment, saying the jets struck Basul village, and other areas near Garbaharey town, the regional capital of Gedo.

US military carried out in Somalia air-raids that killed several Al shabaab commanders, including the leader of the group Ahmed Godane who died in drone attack near Barawe town in 1st September, 2014.
