The US is ready to release five Taliban leaders from the detention center at Guantanamo Bay under certain conditions, says the head of the Afghani foreign relations department of the High Peace Council Mohammad Ismail Qasimyar. According to Qasimyar, the US is ready to transfer five Taliban leaders to Qatar to meet their families there. Earlier, the Taliban expressed their wish to open a political bureau in Qatar for peace talks with Washington.  However, all negotiations were halted following the March 11 shooting spree by a US soldier which left 17 civilians dead in Kandahar province.
