the British ambassador in Cairo

The world cannot leave Egypt alone in its fight to defeat terrorism and efforts to boost tourism and economy, the British ambassador in Cairo said on Tuesday.

John Casson made the remarks during a conference on tourism in Egypt in 2016.

In a statement issued by the Egyptian Embassy in Cairo, Casson welcomed the Egyptian Tourism Ministry's initiative to organize the conference.

We have mutual interests in increasing the number of tourists in Egypt, he said.

British people like visiting Egypt and actually there are many in Egypt; they are in Hurghada, Luxor, Marsa Alam, Cairo, Alexandria and Aswan, he added.

Britain and Egypt have great interest in re-operating flights to Sharm El Sheikh, and this is important for the tourism industry and for the economy, Casson added.

That's why Britain, Germany, Russia and other countries are taking steady steps at the highest level in cooperation with the Egyptian government to make Sharm El Sheikh a model for security of airports and aviation, he said
