Al Azhar will continue to adopt an Islamic moderate and renewed approach and fight extremist thoughts, Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El Tayyeb said on Wednesday.

Addressing a ceremony that was held on the occasion of granting him an honorary doctorate from the Beni Suef University, Tayyeb called on Muslim students to continue their education to benefit their societies.

He also praised the role played by the Beni Suef University to promote education in Egypt.
