Dozens of disabled Egyptians protested for the sixth day Monday, asking President Mohamed Morsi to recognize their rights.
Protesters demonstrating in front of the presidential palace rejected a chance to negotiate with the president's legal adviser, demanding a meeting with the president himself, al-Masry al-Youm reported.
They are seeking the right to work the 5 percent of jobs that should be allocated to them. They also want housing and a pension of $245 a month for those unable to work.
The protesters also want to be exempt from paying customs fees on their vehicles.
Security officers beat them Sunday when the disabled individuals blocked a road to pressure authorities to act on their demands.
