A man stabbed a person to death and injured another 12 at a market in the southern metropolis of Shenzhen on Saturday morning, according to local police.

The incident happened at about 8 a.m. at a farmers' market in Longgang District. The man attempted to take his own life by setting fire to a bottle of petrol but was stopped by the police.
