Buenos Aires - MENA
One person was killed and more than 100 others were injured on Wednesday in turmoil and lootings as a police strike for increasing salary in Argentina's central province of Cordoba left the country's second largest city without security, according to medical sources. The killed was a young man aged between 18 and 20, who was shot in the back during a looting, said a spokesperson from San Roque hospital in Cordoba, the capital of the same name province. Hospitals in Cordoba received at least 130 injured people so far, a local radio station reported. The riot began Tuesday night and continued early Wednesday in Cordoba, where more than 1.3 million people live. The lack of police surveillance enticed several mobs to loot supermarkets, stores and houses in many neighborhoods in Cordoba.
