At least 10 people were injured in a railway mishap in the northeastern Indian state of Assam Saturday, a senior railway official said.
"The mishap happened when four coaches of an express train derailed at Basugaon in the state's Kokrajhar district while the train was crossing a bridge," he said, on condition of anonymity.
All the 10 people, including nine passengers, have been admitted to a local hospital where the condition of the driver of the Guwahati Siphung Express is said to be serious, the official said.
Local TV channels showed footage of two coaches hanging from the edge of the bridge as rescuers tried their best to bring out trapped passengers.
Train services have been disrupted in the region because of the mishap, the official said, adding the train is the link between Assam and the eastern state of West Bengal.
A probe has been ordered into the incident, he added.
