Ten inmates were hospitalized and dozens more were briefly trapped in a jail house in east Texas after its roof collapsed Saturday morning, local media reported.
The incident happened at Diboll Correctional Center in Diboll, about 170 km northeast of Houston, according to local TV ABC13.
The jail's warden said 84 inmates were in the building when the accident happened and were temporarily trapped.
Ten people were taken to the hospital for injuries, while an untold number are being treated for minor injuries at the privately run facility. None of the injuries are life threatening.
Jail officials are assessing damage to the roof and trying to figure out how it happened. Texas Department of Criminal Justice is sending a team to assess the situation.
On June 26, a garage ceiling collapsed during a religious gathering at a residential house in Houston, injuring some 30 people.
