Ten people were killed and eight others injured when a truck crashed into three other vehicles early Sunday morning in the western Indian state of Gujarat, police said. The incident took place at National Highway no. 8 at Bharuch of the state when the driver of a steel pipes laden truck lost control of the vehicle and hit three other vehicles. The truck driver and nine people on another vehicle were killed and eight others were injured. Road accidents take place frequently in India due to reckless driving, overloading or over packing of passengers and bad road conditions. An estimated 100,000 people are killed yearly on the road in India, according to official figures.
