At least 12 people were injured in a train mishap in the northeastern Indian state of Assam in the early hours of Wednesday, a senior railway official said. "The mishap happened at Ajuri station near the state's Morigaon district when some 10 coaches of an express train derailed. The injured passengers have been admitted to a local hospital," he said, on condition of anonymity. A probe has been ordered into the derailment of 15666 BG Express, the official said, adding that senior Indian Railways officials have rushed to the site and rescue operations are on. Rail mishaps are common in India as a result of the state-owned Indian Railways' poor safety record.
