Authorities in the northern Spanish city of Bilbao said a commuter train failed to stop at a city station and hit buffers, injuring 27 passengers, ABC news reported.

The regional government's emergency service said that the accident happened during the Monday morning rush-hour at Abando, Bilbao's main station in the city center.

It said seven passengers were taken to the hospital and 20 were treated at the scene.
