Earthquake in north-western China

At least three people died and 71 were injured in an earthquake in north-western China's Xinjiang region, authorities said Saturday.

Earlier state media reports said that six people had died in Friday's quake, but the China Earthquake Administration revised the figures Saturday.

About 6 million people were evacuated and 12,000 houses destroyed or seriously damaged, with total economic losses estimated at 190 million yuan (30 million dollars), the administration said.
