At least 45 people were killed in huge floods that hit the town of Salgar in Colombia, Sky News Arabia reported Monday.

The disaster took place around 3 a.m. local time in Salgar, about 60 miles southwest of the Colombian city of Medellin.

Rescuers supported by police helicopters were evacuating residents in the scene for fear of another mudslide.
