Five people of a family, including a four-month-old child, were charred to death in a fire that razed a three-storey building in Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh in central India in the wee hours Monday, said police. The building which caught fire at 04:30 a.m. local time was a grocery store located at a busy bazaar in Kiri Mohallah of the town, allegedly due to a short circuit of electricity wires. It took nine hours for firefighters to bring the fire under control. They also found the charred bodies, which were of a family who lived in the building. Fire incidents take place frequently in India due to lack of safety measures, negligence of people, congestion of residential areas and running down condition of infrastructures.
