Seven people were killed in a storm which came down on the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand Saturday, said local media.
The storm uprooted electricity poles and hundreds of trees when it hit around early morning the state capital Ranchi, the cities of Jamshedpur, Hazaribagh, Latehar and some other districts, said Press Trust of India.
Police said a man, his two daughters and a son were crushed to death when the tree under which they were sleeping fell on them, said the report. Three members of a family were killed in lightning.
Some Indian states have come under bad weather like storm and rains over the past few days.
Nine people were killed by incidents caused by a strong storm in the Indian capital and its surrounding areas Friday. Six people were killed by lightning Saturday in the eastern state of West Bengal, according to local media reports.
