At least twenty suspected militants were killed during aerial strikes by fighter jets of Pakistan military in Khyber tribal region of northern Pakistan bordering Afghanistan, said military on Thursday.
A statement by media wing of Pakistan military, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said, "The fighter aircraft struck militant hideouts in Akakhel, Tirah and other areas of the agency as part of ongoing Khyber Operation." The military claimed to destroy five militant hideouts during the air strikes.
Earlier on Wednesday, at least eight soldiers lost their lives while 21 militants were killed and several others wounded during a major clearance operation in Khyber tribal region. Khyber is one of the seven semi-autonomous tribal regions bordering Afghanistan with presence of foreign and local militants.
