At least 10 people were wounded on Sunday night in a gunfire in New Orleans, the largest city in the U.S. state of Louisiana.

The victims were sent to hospital for treatment after the shooting happened inside a park in the Upper Ninth Ward in the city, according to the Times-Picayune, the English daily of New Orleans.

Police confirmed the incident, saying that several people fired into the crowd of more than 300, who gathered for a block party.

Police said that they do not know how serious the wounds are, or what caused the shooting, but they stressed that no one has died at the moment.
