Afghan suicide bombing

The attack on a base of NATO-led Resolute Support (RS) mission in Kabul on Friday night left nine people including a RS service member dead, said a statement of the alliance released here Saturday.

"One Resolute Support service member and eight Resolute Support contracted civilians were killed during an attack on a coalition facility in Kabul, Afghanistan on Aug. 7, 2015,"it said.

The statement, however, didn't identify the nationalities of the victims.

A spokesperson with the RS Public Affairs office when approached by Xinhua confirmed that the service member is a U.S. national.

However, a relative of the remaining eight victims said that all the remaining eight victims are Afghans and had served as guard in the compound.

More than 13,000 American and NATO-led RS troops have remained in Afghanistan following the end of the alliance combat mission here in late December 2014 to train and advise Afghan national security forces.
