The death toll rose to 17 in the 11- storey building collapse in Chennai of Southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu last Saturday while the number of people are still trapped under the debris remained unknown.
Twenty-one people have so far been rescued as rescue operations are still underway.
At least 400 experts are on the ground and 10 teams from the National Disaster Response Force, along with the Chennai Police and the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services are working around the clock to remove debris and rescue the survivors.

The under construction building collapsed following heavy rains. The 11-storey apartment building was being constructed by a Madurai-based real estate company. Six people including the builder have been arrested.
Officials say rescue operations won't stop until all survivors are pulled out and all bodies are accounted for. A probe into what caused the building collapse is now underway. Another building collapse in Indian capital New Delhi last Saturday already took 10 lives, due to an ongoing construction on an adjacent plot which had damaged land structure.
