At least 94 bodies have been recovered on Sunday two days after a giant amount of dump soil from a jade mine collapsed in Myanmar's northernmost Kachin state.

The landslide, which occurred early Friday, buried about 80 households in Sankhatku village in Hpakant town when local miners were sleeping near the dump soil.

A rescue operation was underway at the site.

Earlier report said some 30 people were killed and over 100 others went missing after the landslide.

Migrant miners of five small companies were searching for jade in piles of waste soil on the mountainside, the report added.

Residents said five similar incidents took place in the same area this year.
