The Russian-backed separatists in east Ukraine said Tuesday the Ukrainian troops suffered 1,735 deaths since the start of the current round of fighting on January 17, 2015.
Besides, the separatist self-defense forces captured 52 soldiers, and destroyed 146 tanks and 114 armored vehicles during this period, Interfax news agency reported, citing a separatist field commander.
The commander noted that five civilians were killed as a result of the bombardment on residential areas by the government forces.
He failed to specify the losses of the separatists in the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR).
Meanwhile, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein put the death toll from the conflict in eastern Ukraine at 5,350 since the start of the conflict in March 2014.
