Drone strike

At least eight people were killed and several others wounded in a US-led drone strike on Monday in Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal region bordering Afghanistan, said media reports.
The drone targeted the residence of a local Taliban commander and left at least eight suspected militants dead and about six others injured in Shawal district, which stretches across both North and South Waziristan tribal regions, local media reported. The drone strike completely destroyed the compound that is situated in Mangroti area.
Earlier on Sunday, at least five people were killed in a US-led drone strike in South Waziristan tribal region.
Drone attacks are widely unpopular in Pakistan and the country has condemned the strikes several times in past considering it the violation of its territorial sovereignty. The strike came at a time when Pakistan military is undergoing a comprehensive operation against the foreign and local militants in North Waziristan tribal region since June 15.
