Paris police have opened fire on a car that rammed the barriers at France's Invalides monument, stopping the vehicle and arresting the driver, The Telegraph reported on Wednesday.

A policeman with the gendarmerie fired around 10 shots when the driver refused to stop and then forced his way through one of the main entrances of Les Invalides on Rue Grenelle.

Police say no one was injured when the car plowed through the barricade at the golden-domed monument, and the incident was under investigation.

The motive is unclear, although Initial reports suggest he was incoherent when questioned at the scene.

The incident took place at the Les Invalides complex in the heart of Paris, where a remembrance ceremony was recently held for the 130 people killed in the Nov. 13 Islamist attacks on Paris.
