Unidentified gunmen Friday night killed two members of Burundi's ruling party CNDD-FDD, at Ruvyagira locality, some 25km southeast of the capital Bujumbura, the Burundi National Radio has reported.
Gunmen wearing military uniforms attacked two households at about 23:00 (21:00 GMT), shooting dead the two man, including a director at Ruvyagira Secondary School, according to the state radio.
The radio said the gunmen also went to two homes in the neighboring Nyankere village, but failed to harm the residents as they fled.
The victims are said to have been harassed during protests against President Pierre Nkurunziza's bid for a third term in office.
Nkurunziza won re-election in a controversial presidential poll late July as candidate of the ruling party, amid months of unrest sparked by his bid.
The opposition say his re-election was illegal as it violated the constitution that sets a two-term limit for president.
However the country's constitutional court ruled that the president's first term doesn't count as he was appointed by parliament not elected by people.
