One Israeli soldier was wounded in mortar shells which were launched from the Gaza Strip onto a nearby Israeli military base, Israeli radio reported Saturday.
The mortar shells targeted Sofa military site east of Rafah city, the radio added.
It said that the solider was slightly wounded and was rushed to the nearest hospital to receive medical treatment.
The military site was also caught on fire and firefighters were called onto the scene to control the situation.
Meanwhile, Israeli army announced earlier that Palestinian fighters had launched rockets on many Israeli towns near the Gaza Strip; however, the Iron Dome anti-rocket defense battery intercepted four of them.
