Bangkok - XINHUA
A woman and a man were injured during shooting in the wee hours of Friday near the Lumpini Park in Bangkok, which has been a main anti-government protest site, Bangkok Post reported.
The two were rushed to hospitals, and the 31-year-old woman has already been discharged.
This is the first bloody incident reported near protest sites since protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban announced last Friday to end a weeks-long operation to paralyze the capital and merge all other rally sites into the one at the park.
But some protesters have stayed put at the rally sites near the Government Complex and Government House since Suthep's announcement.
From Nov. 30 last year to Feb. 28, political violence all over the country killed 23 people and injured 768 others, the latest figures from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's Erawan Emergency Medical Service Center show.
In the capital alone, 20 were killed and 725 others wounded, according to the center.
