An unidentified man started shooting in Hamm, a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, and the ensuing skirmish resulted in the killing of two people.
At least three people were injured, Itar-Tass reported on Wednesday.
The motive for the shooting is unknown, with police officials describing the incident as an "exchange of fire" because "the aggressor himself was shot dead".
