Brazilia - XINHUA
At least 13 people were killed in shootings happening in southern Brazil around late Sunday and early Monday, according to local media reports. The shootings took place in the metropolitan area of Campinas, in the southern state of Sao Paulo, just hours after an off-duty military police officer was murdered in a robbery. It was not known whether the shootings and the officer's death were connected. All of the deaths, including that of the police officer, were found in Campinas. The police didn't identified any motives for the shootings. Campinas, located 100 kilometers northwest of Brazil's largest city of Sao Paulo, is a major industrial, financial and educational hub.
