A Singapore man with an unusual superhero-like name of Batman Suparman was jailed on Monday for two years and nine months for theft, housebreaking and drug abuse. Suparman, 23, is jobless, local daily Straits Times said. In July, his brother Nurazman Suparman, 28, reported to the police that his ATM (automatic teller machine) card was missing and there had been unauthorised withdrawals amounting to 650 Singapore dollars (520 U.S. dollars). Investigations then revealed that Batman had stolen the card from their home and made the withdrawals. He also broke into an office and stole 200 Singapore dollars ( 160 U.S. dollars) from the 430 Singapore dollars (344 U.S. dollars) placed in a drawer, probably in the hope that the missing amount might not be noticed. An employee checked the surveillance video footage and saw that a thief had forced open a window to enter the premises. Police were informed and the offender was arrested on Aug 19. A urine test revealed that he had also been abusing heroin. Batman has some 10,000 "likes" on his own Facebook page for his superhero-like name.
