US drone strike kills 6 militants in north Pakistan

At least six suspected militants were killed in a US drone strike on Wednesday in the Miramshah tehsil of North Waziristan tribal region of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan, media reported.
According to reports, six missiles fired by a drone hit a compound and a vehicle in Dargah Mandi village in Miramshah where a comprehensive military operation launched by the Pakistani army against foreign and local terrorists is also under way.
It was the third drone strike in Pakistani territory in a month. Earlier, two successive US drone strikes killed at least 16 suspected militants in North Waziristan and Pakistan condemned the strikes in its territory declaring it a violation of its sovereignty.
Meanwhile, over 190 suspected militants and eight soldiers have been killed since the launch of the military operation in the tribal region against the militants on Sunday.
Pakistan army has so far resorted only to air strikes, sending fighter jets to pound suspected militant hideouts up in the mountains.
North Waziristan is one the seven semi autonomous tribal agencies of Pakistan governed by tribal laws and facing militantsآ’ insurgency against the state for last seven years. Around 60,000 residents have fled North Waziristan since late May fearing the long awaited ground offensive
