A high-level delegation representing the World Health Organisation (WHO) today started a three-day visit to Bahrain to get updated about prevention of non-communicable chronic diseases.
Officials representing the United National Development Programme (UNDP) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) are also taking part in the visit which concludes on Wednesday.
Receiving the delegation, Health Minister Faeqa bint Said Al-Saleh said that the government gives the priority to promoting prevention of non-communicable chronic diseases as part of efforts to attain sustainable development goals in Bahrain. 
She stressed the importance of the visit which, she said, would contribute to enhancing medical services, paying tribute to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa for his directives to develop the health sector.
The five-member will pay visits to a number of ministries, departments and civil society organizations concerned with the prevention of communicable diseases.
These include the Ministry of Information Affairs, the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, the Supreme Council for Health, the Supreme Council for the Environment, the Shura Council, the Council of Representatives.
Meetings will also be held with governorates, municipal councils, hospitals and non-governmental parties, focusing on efforts to combat non-communicable diseases in Bahrain.
